At the Chambers of Ashwarya Sinha, we are deeply committed to using our legal expertise to serve the public good. Pro bono litigation is a cornerstone of our practice, reflecting our dedication to justice, societal welfare, and ensuring access to legal representation for those in need.
Our pro bono efforts extend to promoting public welfare through strategic legal interventions in policy and governance addressing systemic challenges to ensure access to justice and efficiency in legal processes:
Representing the Jharkhand High Court in a suo motu case initiated by the Hon’ble Supreme Court to establish a framework for granting bail, addressing systemic issues in India’s criminal justice system.
Filed a Public Interest Litigation before the Hon’ble Supreme Court on behalf of Delhi Dehat Vikas Manch, a registered society having more than 700 members, across the capital city committed to the upliftment of the farmer community, for the urgent implementation of sustainable development policies in line with Delhi’s Master Plans for 2021 and 2041, ensuring upliftment of rural communities.
Involved in a public interest petition before the Hon’ble Supreme Court seeking the implementation of Sections 158, 159 (post-2019 Amendment), 149, and 166 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, through online and virtual mechanisms. Petition also emphasizes for ensuring the jurisdictional police promptly collect and verify motor vehicle accident information under Section 158/159 and expediting the submission of reports to Motor Accident Claims Tribunals for swift compensation to third-party victims.
The case highlights how physical submission of documents can cause significant delays, undermining the Act’s intent. It also advocates for implementing online systems, particularly crucial in large states and during situations like COVID-19, to facilitate quick and efficient compensation disbursal for motor accident victims.
Successfully represented former Air India air hostesses in a case before the Delhi High Court, resulting in their reinstatement after wrongful termination due to weight standards.
Our founder, Ashwarya Sinha has served as amicus curiae in numerous cases, providing impartial guidance to courts on matters of public significance and contributing to the fair resolution of complex legal issues.
Through our pro bono litigation efforts, we reaffirm our belief that justice is a fundamental right, not a privilege. By representing marginalized communities, advocating for public interest, and championing progressive policies, the Chambers of Ashwarya Sinha leverages the law as a tool for societal betterment and equitable justice.
